Rivers Commissioner of police urges residents to support in the Policing Process

RIVPA, Police partner to eliminate cultism in secondary, primary school

The Rivers State Police Command has tasked major stakeholders to partner with security agencies to curb increasing rates of cultism amongst youths.

The police commissioner,  CP Zaki Ahmed, gave the charge while playing host to the Executive Council of the Rivers State Independent Publishers Association (RIVPA), in his office today.

Ahmed said the trend was worrisome, because secondary and primary school students were initiated into cultism and warned that the outcome could be devastating,  if nothing is done to stop this.

He urged publishers to partner with the police to sensitize parents and guardians on the need for adequate supervision and discipline.

On her part, the chairman of RIVPA, Gloria Boma Harry, while assuring the police of the support of the association, in the fight against cultism, expressed concern about the need for the police to partner with the association in its fight against touts .

She stated that the image of publishers and journalists have been smeared by activities of these touts.
