Rivers Women leaders lambast Tony Okocha

…. describe him as a sick man not worth the attention of Rivers people

A cross section of women leaders in Rivers State have lambasted the Caretaker Chairman of APC in Rivers state and NDDC State Rep, Tony Okocha over his comment against the Peace-walk staged by the women in Portharcourt recently

Speaking with newsmen, some leaders of the Women groups said that going by the statement credited to Tony Okocha it is obvious that he is a sick man whose statements is not worth the attention of Rivers people

According to the women, the activities of the likes of Tony Okocha to distract the Governor of the state, is one of the reasons why the women embarked on the peace walk to warn them to desist from such menace.

The women stated that rather than take heed of the warning and stop his baseless outburst against the Governor in a bid to seek attention, Tony Okocha still swims in his cesspool of foolishness

One of the women leaders Mrs Vivian Briggs in her statement wondered why Tony Okocha is pained by the Peace Walk. Her words:

” We Rivers Women went on Peace walk and issued a 9point communique in which we expressed our support for the development of the state and demanded that the Governor of Rivers state His Excellency Sir Siminilayi Fubara be respected, and be allowed to govern the state, and further called on Rivers people to give peace a chance. What’s wrong with these demands by the women? Only a sick man like Tony Okocha with a desire to destroy Rivers state will have problem with such demands. But he will not succeed” she concluded

Also speaking, another woman leader Madam Blessing Okemini expressed disappointment over Tony Okocha’s call for development in the state, describing it as the height of self deceit:

” Am very disappointed in Tony Okocha’s purported call for development and feigning ignorance of the ongoing developments in the state such as road constructions, payment of backlog of workers entitlements, promotion exercise and many more, all in just 6months. Rather than commend the Governor , Tony Okocha chose to dwell in self denial and prefer peddlling lies and useless propaganda,” she stated.

Speaking further Madam Blessing Okemini stated that the activities of Rivers APC and the State NDDC office under Tony Okocha shows that he is a serial failure who should be ashamed of himself. Her words:

” It’s a known fact that since his appointment as State APC Caretaker Chairman, Tony Okocha has not been able to call a single meeting, much less offering any kind of leadership. On his NDDC appointment, it’s obvious he has since forgotten why he was appointed, as he daily constitutes nuisance in the midst of public outcry over lack of development initiative from the present NDDC which he belongs. He should be ashamed of himself. If this continue to be the situation, Rivers Women will have no other option than to call for the sack of Tony Okocha as Rivers NDDC commissioner” she warned.

The women leaders, in a joint statement released to newsmen affirmed their position to stand by their decisions stated in the 9point communique, assuring that they will resist any attempt by anyone to destabilise Rivers state ##
