A police van veered off the Eastern Bye pass in Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital, on Monday morning causing serious pandemonium.
The police van had plunged into a canal while chasing a vehicle which allegedly had some petroleum product believed to be diesel.
According to eyewitness account, the police van had lost control during the pursuit and a motorcycle conveying two men was dragged off the bridge with its occupants.
Three policemen and two civilians were rescued from the creeks with various degrees of injuries by motorists and rushed to an undisclosed clinic for treatment.
