Rivers State Government has stated that the planned election and special meeting of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, will no longer hold in the state. A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development, Dr. Roland Obed-Whyte PhD, JP, made the revelation.
The statement sent to media houses in the state reads: The Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development, has stopped Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo from conducting any youth election and meetings in Rivers State, citing crises.
Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, a factional President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) planned to conduct a youth election and meetings in Rivers State. The Ministry said facts at there disposal shows that there are several factions of the National Youth Council of Nigeria at the federal level, allowing such election and meeting will lead to youth crises in the State.
The Ministry, in view of the above, wrote to the State Security Service (SSS) and by extension, other security agencies, directing that the NYCN election and special meetings planned to hold on the 22nd of March, 2021 at the instance of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo faction be suspended for the avoidance of crises.
