Rivers State Govt releases 22 Exxon Mobil Staff

The Rivers State Government has released 22 Exxon Mobil staff who were arrested on Thursday April 16, for violating the Executive order restricting movement into the state..

The Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Professor Zaccheus Adangor, disclosed that they were released on Sunday morning without charges, because of interventions by well meaning Nigerians.

He said the release of the 22 Exxon Mobil at the State Isolation Centre at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, was monitored by him, noting that the Rivers State Government remains committed to implementing the Executive Order issued to check the spread of coronavirus.

Africa Update had reported last week that the 22 staff were arrested for entering the state from Akwa Ibom State, in violation of the border closure ordered by the Governor.

You will recall that during a statewide broadcast on Friday, the Governor, had vowed that the 22 staff of Exxon Mobil, would be prosecuted just as the two pilots and 10 passengers flown into the state by Caverton Helicopters,
