In a distinguished ceremony held on Saturday, 28th February 2026, the Rivers State Government formally pledged its steadfast support for Senator Ipalibo Harry Banigo in her continued efforts to champion women’s leadership and foster sustainable development across the region.

The assurance was delivered by the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara, during a high-profile event marking the induction of Senator Banigo as a Life Patroness of the African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO). The occasion also served as the platform for the unveiling of the organisation’s 2026 magazine and the revitalisation of its Rivers State Chapter.

Governor Fubara, represented by his Deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu, characterised the honour bestowed upon the Senator as a fitting tribute to her “enduring commitment to public service” and her “unwavering advocacy for the advancement of women.” The Governor further noted that Senator Banigo’s distinguished career in health governance and empowerment remains a source of profound pride for the people of Rivers State.
