Some major roads in Obio/Akpo Local Government Area, in Rivers State, will be closed to vehicular traffic from July 5, 2020. The closure is billed to end on September 4, 2020, according to a press statement released by the Commissioner for Works, Austin Ben Chioma.
Africa Update gathered that the closure is aimed at facilitating early completion of ongoing road construction in those areas. His statement reads: The Rivers State Ministry of Works wishes to inform the general public that there will be closure of old Aba road by Rumuogba fly-over and at Rumuibekwe Housing Estate junction on New Aba road for two months from Sunday 5th July, 2020 to Friday 4th September, 2020. The ministry therefore appeals to the commuters and other road users within and outside the state to follow the traffic diversions.
