It was a very solemn procession for women of Umuasukpu community in Imeh – Igboh – Etche in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, as they marched through their community to condemn the alleged murder of their son, popularly called occasion boy or Mmehola, by Fulani herdsmen.

A member of the community who spoke to Africa Update, on condition of anonymity said, the youth was reportedly shot dead with bow and arrow, when he confronted the herdsmen, whose cattle were grazing and destroying the crops at the farm.

It was further revealed that the Fulani herdsmen, had made life unbearable for these women, who have consistently lived in fear of being raped, molested or even beaten up if they dared to confront them.

This, according to our source, has lingered for over three years, exposing their sons, daughters and husbands to danger of being attacked by the Fulani herdsmen.

The protesters urged relevant authorities to urgently intervene to avert crisis and enable them return to their farms to earn a living .
