Rivers NCWS takes consultation to Nyenwe-ali Igwuruta

Ahead of the planned inauguration of Local Government Chapters of the National Council for Women Societies, NCWS, in Rivers State, the State President Princess Jetiba Soberekon and other members of the State Executive Council paid a familiarisation visit to the palace of the Nyenwe -Ali Igwuruta, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State.

In her speech, Princess Soberekon, expressed appreciation to the Royal father and the Council of Chiefs for the opportunity to interact with them and the Women Council of the community in particular.

She further disclosed that NCWS is poised to ensure that women’s rights are preserved and given priority. She observed that the gender friendly disposition of His Royal Highness, Eze Prof S.N. Wekhe, JP, that has led to the formation of the Women Council of Igwuruta, is worth commending.

She encouraged the women to take advantage of the upcoming Inauguration of LGA Chapters by registering and the forth coming census which the NCWS will be fully involved.

On his part, His Royal Highness Eze Wekhe, thanked NCWS for visiting his community and assured them of the participation of the women Council which comprises women from the 9 villages of Igwuruta.

He also commended the Rivers State Secretary of NCWS, Bar. Ibiso Briggs for the insightful information about the Violence Against Women Act and other legal issues explained to the women. He said the Secretary will assist them in the event of any legal related issues.

During the interactive session, the Vice President Rivers West Senatorial District, Gloria Boma Harry, and the State Secretary 2, Hon. Pat Iyeh, spoke with the women on other important issues.

The research Coordinator Deaconess Suka Timothy, and the Nominated President of Emohua Local Government Area, Mrs. Blessing Eyindah, were also present at the palace.
