The Executive of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Rivers State Branch has issued a communique ratifying it’s Acting President, Mrs Bridget Pemii and other members of the State NCWS EXCO.
During an emergency EXCO meeting in Port Harcourt on Friday, March 25, 2022, the State EXCO further reaffirmed it’s commitment to work with and liberate all women in the state who are still bound by biases.
Resolutions reached in the meeting as contained in the issued communiqué include the following:
1) Ratification/ Bye Election: Sequel to (i) The exit of the immediate Past President of NCWS Rivers State Branch, Princess Marian Tolofari, (ii) The voluntary resignation of Mrs. Fortune Da-Ibiene Kio, as Vice President, Rivers West Senatorial District of NCWS Rivers State Branch, the above listed offices have become vacant and consequently require the following action:
a) Following the above stated, and as provided by the constitution of NCWS, the Vice President Rivers South East Senatorial District, Mrs. Bridget Pemii, has been overwhelmingly voted to occupy the position of President of NCWS Rivers State Branch.
b) With the new status of President bestowed on Mrs. Bridget Pemii, after the vote, Mrs. Victoria Suka Timothy, who previously was the Research Coordinator, was voted as the Vice President of Rivers South East Senatorial District of NCWS, Rivers State Branch.
c) Following the voluntary withdrawal/ resignation of the Vice President Rivers West Senatorial District of NCWS Rivers State Branch, Mrs. Fortune Da-Ibiene Kio, Gloria Boma Harry, who was previously the Newsletter Editor, was voted as the Vice President Rivers West Senatorial District of NCWS Rivers State Branch.
d) Following the emergence of Gloria Boma Harry, as the Vice President, Rivers West Senatorial District of NCWS Rivers State Branch, Miss Juliana Masi, was voted as the Newsletter Editor.
e) Following the emergence of Mrs. Victoria Suka Timothy, as the Vice President, Rivers South East Senatorial District, Mrs. Margaret Inko-Tariah was voted as Research Co-ordinator.
2) Expulsion of Princess Marian Tolofari: Following gross financial misappropriation and misconduct, the Executive Council has unanimously resolved to expel the Immediate Past President, Princess Marian Tolofari, from the National Council for Women Societies, NCWS, Rivers State Branch, henceforth.
She is by this notice requested to handover all properties and monies in her possession to the new President Mrs. Bridget Pemii, with immediate effect.”
It further warned the General public to heed the notice and desist carrying out any official business in the name of NCWS with the former president – Princess Marian Tolofari. Warning that Whoever does so, does at their own risk.
