The mother of one Mr Endurance, alleged to be a former councillor in Port Harcourt Local Government Area, PHALGA, Rivers State escaped death by the whiskers, when suspected cultists stormed her residence at Egede Street Mile 2 Diobu axis of PHALGA, on Monday to demand for payment over security services.
It was learnt that trouble started when the ex-councilor refused to pay the armed cultists an agreed amount for “election security”. He had reportedly hired them for security service during the governorship and house of assembly election that held in the state on Saturday.

Endurance had insisted that he has no money to pay the cultists, and this was said to have led to altercation and throwing of bottles into his compound.
The source further disclosed that when Endurance made attempt to run inside the house, the angry hoodlums opened fire on him, but it was his mother that was hit by the bullet.
Another eyewitness said the hoodlums escaped after the shooting incident.
Officers from the Azikiwe Police Division incharge of the area and other Police units had visited the scene, while the woman was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident.
