The Rivers State House of Assembly has committed the 2019 appropriation bill to the house committee on appropriation.
The bill was sent to the committee after robust debates from lawmakers on the floor of the house.
Some lawmakers who spoke of the speedy passage of the bill commended the governor for the judicious implementation of the 2018 projects, expressing confidence that 2019 budget will be implemented to deliver democratic dividend to residents of the state.
The lawmaker representing Khana constituency 2, Friday Nke-ee on his part stressed the need for the government to focus more on the provision of portable drinking water for the people of the state rather than concentrate on road construction.
Commiting the bill to the appropriation committee, speaker Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani asked the committee to conclude works to ensure speedy passage.
The house adjourned to Friday 11 January, 2019.
