About four persons are now feared dead following a ghastly accident on the Aleto bridge, in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Eyewitness who spoke to Africa Update on condition of anonymity said a trailer had accidentally knocked a Toyota Hilux and sienna car into the Aleto river, due to the deplorable condition of the road.
The accident which occured in the early hours of yesterday, would have been averted if the federal government had responded to the calls made by motorists and natives from the Community to commence construction of the major road, another eyewitness said.
Africa Update gathered that it was uncertain the number of persons in both vehicles before the accident occured, but while one person was rescued alive, about four are feared dead. The trailer had also discharged the 40ft container as a result of the accident, barricading the bridge and causing heavy traffic on the deplorable Eleme axis of the East-West road.
