Rivers Elders vow to reconcile Amaechi, Wike

Some Elders in Rivers State have resolved to end the feud between the Minister for Transportation, Chief Chibuike Amaechi and Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.

At a press conference in Port Harcourt, the Chairman of the Rivers Elders and Leaders Council, Chief Albert Horsfall said the State has lost so much as a result of the division between Chief Amaechi and Chief Wike.

“We do not need to take extra ordinary measures at all, but to hit the nail on the head. One of the decisions we have taken at today’s meeting (February 15) is to go very firmly into the problem and dispute. If there is any between these two individuals . Leading individuals of this state!.

“To bring them together, so that they can speak with one voice for the state . it is an asset to have people like them in leadership.  Both at the local level and the national level.

“But they are speaking rather against each other, rather than for the state. It has cost us too much, too dearly and we have resolved at this meeting to try and bring them together.  As elders of this state we hope we can reconcile them”. He expressed.

The elders also recommended that the country should be restructured and the Federal Governemt should revert to the 1963 republican situation , where states produce and contribute to the Federal purse rather than produce for the Federal Government to take everything .

They requested that the region should control the resources from oil and gas found in the area.
