Rivers State Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu, has congratulated former Governor of the State, Dr Peter Otunaya Odili, on the occasion of his 78th birthday, describing him as an extraordinary leader, teacher and father whose contributions to the development of the state remain enduring.

In a goodwill message issued from Government House, Port Harcourt, the Deputy Governor praised the former governor for his visionary leadership and lasting contributions to the growth and development of Rivers State.

Prof. Odu said it was a privilege and honour to have served under Dr Odili’s administration as a Commissioner, describing the experience as an opportunity to learn from a leader whose commitment to public service left a lasting impression.

She noted that Dr Odili’s influence extends beyond his years in political office, particularly through his continued contributions to healthcare and medical education.

According to her, the former governor, even at 78, remains actively committed to advancing the health sector through the establishment of Pamo University of Medical Sciences, an institution she said reflects his enduring passion for developing human capital and strengthening healthcare delivery.

The Deputy Governor commended Dr Odili’s commitment to service and his continued efforts to contribute to the wellbeing and development of society.

She prayed that Almighty God would grant the former governor sound health, renewed strength, joy and many more years of fruitful service to humanity.

Prof. Odu also wished Dr Odili continued fulfilment as he celebrates another milestone in his life, while acknowledging his enduring legacy in Rivers State and beyond.
