In strict adherence to the executive directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Osun State have concluded the distribution of 1,600 bags of rice (50kg each) to various religious, student, and socio-cultural organisations across the state.
The initiative follows a presidential mandate for a nationwide palliatives programme, aimed at supporting the citizenry through the significant spiritual observances of the Holy month of Ramadan and the Lenten fast.
The distribution, which took place at the Tinubu-Shettima campaign headquarters in Osogbo, encompassed a broad spectrum of beneficiaries. Beyond the primary religious bodies, the relief materials were extended to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), various labour unions, and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
Furthermore, the programme demonstrated a commitment to inclusivity by reaching out to diverse ethnic communities resident within the state, including the Hausa, Igbo, and Igala groups.
Speaking during the exercise, the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, the Honourable Sunday Akere, stated that the gesture was designed to alleviate the financial constraints faced by indigent households. He emphasised the President’s desire to ensure that every home has cause for celebration during the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr and Easter festivities.
“The Muslim faithful have engaged in thirty days of fasting, and by the grace of the Almighty, Eid-el-Fitr shall be celebrated,” Hon. Akere remarked. “Our principal deemed it appropriate to reach out to them in the spirit of generosity to ensure that every household participates in the joy of the occasion.”
He further observed the synchronicity of the religious calendar, noting, “The Christians are currently observing their forty-day fast, which shall culminate in the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. President Bola Tinubu is resolute that the less privileged members of our society must not be left behind during these hallowed celebrations.”
The provision of 1,600 bags of 50kg rice serves as a tangible demonstration of the federal administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, aimed at cushioning the effects of current economic realities.
Representatives of the various unions and ethnic groups expressed their appreciation for the coordination of the exercise, noting that the timely intervention would significantly reduce the burden of celebratory expenses for thousands of families across Osun State.
