Rape case: Governor Fubara “spits fire”

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has promised to fish out the perpetrators behind the attack on students in the Female hostel D at the Rivers State University.

Fubara, who visited the scene on August 24, condemned the robbery attack on students in the Female hostel by yet to be identified criminals, assuring that the investigation that has opened will unravel the perpetrators, and bring them to book. He promised to provide medical assistance for the molested students.

Recall that Some female students of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt had staged a peaceful protest within the school campus following a robbery attack on them by some hoodlums which occurred in the early hours of Thursday August 24 at Hostel C and D.

The aggrieved female students were seen on casual wears protesting within the school premises with placards bearing different inscriptions.

Reacting to the incident, the Rivers State Police Command, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, had directed the DC Operations, Area Commander, Port Harcourt, and the DPO Nkpolu to provide adequate security on the campus when the report of the armed robbery attack was received.

The Commissioner called for vigilance and urged students, parents, and the school management to take advantage of the Police Control Room numbers for reporting suspicious activities: 08032003514 and 08098880134.
