Executive Assistant to Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, on Gender Matters, Princess Marian Tolofari, is now the President of the National Council for Women Societies, NCWS, Rivers State Branch.
Princess Tolofari, and other Executive Council members were inaugurated on Sunday, December 19, by the National President NCWS, Dr. Gloria Laraba Shoda, mni. The 15 member State Executive Council will function for five years, advocating for better economic, social and political inclusion for women, particularly in Rivers State.
In her acceptance speech, Princess Tolofari assured Rivers women of brighter days ahead, reiterating her commitment to the core values and vision of NCWS.
She expressed her appreciation to the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, whose support resulted in the Inauguration of the State Branch after 14 years of being in a state of comatose.
As part of activities to mark the day, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Legendary Comedian Julius Agwu and Belema Hart were decorated as He4She heroes, while the Secretary to State Government Dr Tammy Danagogo also received an award.
Those inaugurated include : 1st Vice President- Mrs Bridget Pemi, 2nd Vice President- Fortune Da-Ibiene Kio, 3rd Vice President- Hon. Onyeche Uloma, State Secretary- Barr Ibiso Erekosima Briggs, 1st Secretary – Barr Emi Jim George, 2nd Secretary – Hon. Patience Iyeh, 3rd Secretary- Hon. Abiotonna Sanipe, State Treasurer – Mrs Julia Owaji-Okiche Erasmus, Financial Secretary- Mrs Rita Jumbo, State PRO- Rebecca Emmanuel, 1st PRO- Hon. Doris Ngofa, 2nd PRO- Mrs Juliet Ayasuk, Research Coordinator- Victoria Suka Timothy, and Newsletter Editor- Gloria Boma Harry
