Police arrests kingpin of stolen mobile phone

The second Vice Chairman of the National Union of Road and Transport Workers’ (NURTW), Ajegunle Unit, Mr. Kazeem Bamidele 42 year old, has landed in the net of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command on Sunday for his alleged role in the purchase of stolen mobile phones.
The operatives had, upon returning from a week long investigation in Enugu, Kogi and Rivers States, swung into action by arresting Bamidele, this was after he was fingered to have been the seller of CAT phone and two Blackberry Z10 phones to users in Kogi State which was collected from victims of robbery and abduction incidents in Lagos State.
The suspect popularly called Elewure upon interrogation, confessed to being the leader of a gang with over 52 boys within Lagos, who constantly steal and sell phones to him. He confirmed to the RRS intelligence Team that he has bought over 4,256 mobile phones from robbers and one – chance gangs operating within the metropolis.
The suspect said he has been in the business for about two years and buys an average of 38 phones in a week. According to our source, the suspect was picked up at his shop at Boundary Market in Ajegunle where five stolen phones were recovered by security operatives.
Already, two commercial buses used for one chance operation and robbery are presently at RRS Headquarters in Alausa.
