Ogoni: NOSDRA set to commence second phase of clean up

National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) has revealed that the second phase of clean up in Bodo Town will commence in June.
Zonal Head of NOSDRA in Port Harcourt Cyrus Nkangwung while giving an update of the clean up process in the area said contractors handling the clean up will resume work on site this June.
He said the second phase will consist of both remediation and clean up because of the of contamination of the area.
Zonal Head of NOSDRA Port Harcourt Cyrus Nkangwung expressed hope that the aquatic life and vegetation of the Bodo people will be restored after a successful clean up by the host oil multi national.
NOSDRA however expressed fears that the continued illegal oil activities in the area is repolluting the area and may prolong the clean up process.
