Port Harcourt, Nigeria — The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the temporary suspension of its Port Harcourt-Aba train service to allow for routine maintenance. The Managing Director of the NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, stated that regular services on the route will resume on September 9, 2025.
In a public statement, Dr. Opeifa expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to commuters. This suspension follows a similar incident in August when the Abuja-Kaduna train service was temporarily halted after a Kaduna-bound train derailed at the Asham station. The accident resulted in seven passengers sustaining injuries.
