There was pandemonium yesterday at Rumuapara community along the East West road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, when a tanker crushed four persons to death.
It was gathered that the tanker was heading for the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited in Eleme, when it rammed into the four persons drinking at a bar at about 3:40 pm.
The driver, according to witnesses, lost control of the vehicle, after brake failure, dragging a parked Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) within the Rumuapara junction, killing the victims on the spot.
It destroyed the building before crushing the four victims with many persons also injured.
The tanker driver has been arrested by policemen from the nearby Rumuokoro Divisional Police Headquarters, while the remains of the victims have been deposited at the mortuary.
