The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has warned that he would not accept a Biafra Republic without Benue and Rivers states.
Kanu, while receiving a delegation of the leaders of Igbo Civil Society Coalition led by Prof. Obasi Igwe, who paid him a solidarity visit at his father’s house in Umuahia, Abia State, alleged that during his incarceration at Kuje Prison, Abuja, the government agreed to give him Biafra with only the five core Igbo states of Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo, but that he rejected the offer.
He further porpurted on Wednesday, that the Federal Government offered him an oil block and a mansion in Dubai to drop the agitation for Biafra.
The IPOB Leader, however, said that he turned down the offers which he dismissed as “Greek gifts” because he was created by God specifically to restore Biafra and could not afford to betray the people.
Kanu said: “Nobody can buy me over or use bribe to make me drop the agitation for Biafra. I am not for sale. I say it again, Nnamdi Kanu is not for sale and Biafra is not for sale.”
“I was created to actualise the restoration of Biafra Republic and liberate Ndigbo. They gave me Biafra in prison with only the five Igbo states, I said no, I want Benue and Rivers.”
“They can’t buy us with money. If I can turn down oil block, turn down mansions in Dubai, what can they offer us? Biafra is coming; there is nothing to stop it”.
“They said everything has a price; I told them that Nnamdi Kanu has no price. All of you here know my wife, I sacrificed her for two years; so, what can they offer me?”
Kanu berated some Igbo leaders and the political elite who are opposed to Biafra secession bid, saying that their opposition to the project was due to their selfish interests.
He accused them of collaborating with federal forces to frustrate the struggles for Biafra actualisation “simply because they feel comfortable with the present arrangement, not minding what the masses are suffering”.
Kanu said that the agitation for Biafra had become a mass movement and which could no longer be halted by any force except God, adding that anyone trying to stop Biafra would rather be consumed by the invisible force behind Biafra.
He decried the poor state of roads and infrastructure in Igboland and other parts of Biafra, but said the anomalies would be remedied once Biafra is actualised.
Kanu regretted that some people had misconstrued the agitation for independence to mean a push for war, saying that he would never compromise his non-violence posture in the struggle for Biafra.
Igwe commended Kanu for his sacrifices in the struggle for Biafra.
He particularly commended the IPOB leader and other pro-Biafra groups for their non-violence approach to the agitation and urged them to sustain the philosophy.
Prof. Igwe assured Kanu of the support of Igbo masses who earnestly yearn for Biafra, adding that other non-Igbo nationalities within Biafra territory also support the agitation.
He condemned Northern youths for their quit notice to Ndigbo living in the North, describing the action as an affront to Southerners.
