A 53-year-old Nigerian man, Nnamdi Godson Nwankwo , who worked at a group home in Raleigh, North Carolina was arrested at about 10 a.m, April 5, after he allegedly raped a 47-year-old woman, who is mentally challenged .
Police accused Nwankwo of second-degree forcible rape and sexual activity by a substitute parent. Both charges are felonies. Records show that police arrested Nwankwo on Merrell Drive in Raleigh at about 10 a.m. on April 5th. Police said the incident happened a day earlier.
Nwankwo of 527 Breswall Court in Rolesville, was charged with second-degree forcible rape and sexual activity by a substitute parent. Two officers on patrol along Merrell Drive in East Raleigh said they saw a suspicious car in a secluded area at about 10 am on the day of the incident.
When they went to check, they found Nwankwo in the car with the woman. Police say the two of them were not fully clothed and immediately noticed that the female victim had a possible cognitive impairment.
According to the warrant of arrest, the woman’s mental capacity did not give her the ability to provide consent.
The suspect is being held in the Wake County jail under a $1.5 million bond.
