Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State Mr. Emmanuel Aguma SAN has hinted of alleged threat to his life and other staff of the Ministry of Justice. At a press conference in Port Harcourt, he said persons involved in the prosecution of the former Chairman of Asari Toru Local Government Council, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree have come under threat and stressed that the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, shall not be intimidated to abandon the ongoing trial on two count charge of conspiracy and murder of Mr. Smart Soberekon and reiterated that the State is prepared to pursue the case to its logical conclusion.” these are the autopsy on the dead boy, all the documents are there, so the case file for the prosecution is complete. “And the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, headed by my humble self is prepared to prosecute this matter to its logical conclusion. We are going to handle this matter and handle it clearly to its logical conclusion.if Ojukaye Flag Amachree is innocent, the court will acquit him, if he is guilty, the court will convict him “. On the recent request of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to release Hon. Amachree from prison custody, the Attorney General frowned at the purported attempt by the Inspector General of Police to unlawfully assume the powers of the Attorney General of Rivers State , who has the right to release Hon. Amachree from prison custody and alleged that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, incharge of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department had signed off on the report and recommended the arrest and prosecution of Hon. Amachree.
