A court in Barcelona  has sentenced Argentina’s and FC Barcelona striker Lionel Messi  to 21-month imprisonment for tax fraud.
Messi and his father, Jorge  were each found guilty of three counts of tax fraud and sentenced to 21 months in prison.  Messi was ordered to pay a 2 million euros ($2.21 million)  fine , while his father was fined 1.5 million euros for the crimes.
The sentence, according to Spanish laws can be appealed through the Spanish supreme court, and can be served under probation due to the fact that the sentence is under two years.
