There was pandemonium in Finiapiri-Ama, Banigo Isile-Ogono community in Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State, on Saturday, September 12, when masked gunmen, stormed a funeral party for late Kenneth Kalada Banigo killing scores, while others were whisked away. According to eyewitness account, the funeral party ended abruptly when the gunmen shot sporadically at top politicians and guests.
Eyewitness account further revealed that Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, David Irimagha and lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Abinye Blessing Pepple, escaped being killed in the attack, while Sunny Hart, Thomas Allison and Theophilus Ibiama, amongst several others were abducted.
The leader of the Bonny Local Government Legislative Assembly, Miriam Hart, was however unlucky as she is currently battling for her life, following injuries sustained from a stray bullet. .
