Magu’s investigation: 7 computers containing sensitive financial records stolen from NFIU’s office

About seven computers containing vital data have stolen from the office of the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), a body responsible for housing sensitive information about financial transactions in the country.

Africa update gathered according to an official of the agency that the data on the stolen computers could still be retrived from hard disks. Stating further that the buglers destroyed the other computers in the office.

It was also gathered that the burglars numbering about six were however captured on CCTV camera in the office, while mobile policemen on duty in the office were arrested on Friday for interrogation.

You’d recall that some NFIU officials had on Thursday appeared before the Justice Salami panel investigating Magu to testify, and some of the panel members were scheduled to visit the NFIU office on Friday morning for more evidence, but before they arrived the office was burgled overnight and sensitive data on movement of funds carted away.
