Tragedy was averted over the weekend at Abonnema in Akuku-toru local government area of Rivers State, when over 100 youths attacked Billionaire oil mogul and acting Chairman of Abonnema Council of Chiefs, High Chief O.B Lulu-Briggs.
Lulu-Briggs was appointed in acting capacity to the position till the controversies raised are resolved, had visited Abonnema for a peace and reconciliation meeting between chiefs, opinion leaders and elders of the area, when the youths attacked his convoy with stones and other dangerous weapons.
There are insinuations that the youths who had laid ambushed for Lulu-briggs may have been hired by the sacked chairman of the Abonnema Council of Chiefs, Chief Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel.
Bob-Manuel was removed last week over allegations of witchcraft levelled against him.
Lulu-briggs came out unhurt despite the gunshots and attack due to the bulletproof vehicle he rode in.
The ramping youths barred Lulu-Briggs and his convoy from assessing the village square, where the meeting was earlier scheduled to hold. They threw stones at the convoy and shot at the people.
