Let’s Embrace our Future with Faith : My dear Compatriots

The Chairman Contact and Mobilization Committee APC Rivers State, Beks Dagogo-Jack, has called on his supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to put their weight behind the candidature of Tonye Cole.

he made the call, August 31, shortly after the pronouncement of Cole as the preferred candidate to fly the party’s flag during the Governorship election in 2019.

Excerpts of message reads;

Let’s Embrace our Future with Faith : My dear Compatriots,

 1.Yesterday at a meeting of the apex leadership caucus , Arc. Tonye D Cole was preferred as our choice for the coming gubernatorial primaries.

2. Considering the many factors surrounding our Party’s activities in the State over the past two years or so, some of the feedback from our different constituencies showed worrying concerns over this decision which shouldn’t just be ignored.

3. Nevertheless one thing is clear : that this choice meets the united desire of our Leader & our Party to see that power rotates amongst the different ethnic blocks in the State. This we must applaud.

4. Everyone conversant with political power calculations will readily admit that it involves a very tedious , tortuous process to take highly sensitive decisions such as this & even after all that due diligence, such decisions still take some time to settle down with the other aspirants & their followers who didn’t make it. It’s impossible & unrealistic to expect that any such decision will satisfy all shades of interests in a large political system such as ours.

5. My strong appeal now is for the leaders of the Party from the Apex & below not to make any public statements which can incite or demoralize our base out of dissatisfaction with this decision. This will play us into the desperate waiting arms of our opponents both within & outside the Party. Let us resolve any differences away from the prying eyes & eavesdropping ears of both mainstream & social media.

6. I also strongly believe that no matter who is chosen, there will always be the urgent need to immediately bring all other Aspirants/stakeholders on board so that their respective followers can receive the correct signals & the needed assurances on time.

7. I dare say this is a time for smart and intelligent processing ; not a time for throwing tantrums and blowing fuses. Let me also warn that if through carelessness, we take our eyes off the only real ball in play of kicking Wike out in 2019, the future of our people shall be doomed to more years of suffering, neglect and regrets.

8. This is the time to embrace our future with faith , prayers and work.

9. I therefore call on all leaders /stakeholders to immediately close ranks , rally support to our Leader , address any gaps, to enable us quickly heal any wounds , correct shortcomings & get ourselves into a battle ready form in time for the election which we must win.
