Minister For Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has defended the activities of Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS in Rivers State and condemned the presence of Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB in the state.
News Agency Of Nigeria, NAN reported that Amaechi took a swipe at his successor, Governor Nyesom Wike over the allegation he levelled against SARS in Rivers State, Amaechi was also reported to have given backing to the military action in the South East and the recent proscription of IPOB.
While speaking to newsmen on Monday 25 September, 2017, The minister said “It baffles me that Nyesom Wike is accusing SARS operatives of committing crimes in the state when he should be thanking them for fighting crime professionally, as far as I am concerned, SARS operatives should be commended, there is no case of extra judicial killing, human right abuse or extortion in the activities of SARS in Rivers State.”
He said the problem of Rivers State is the activities of IPOB and not SARS. “Why is Wike being sympathetic to these IPOB terrorists masquerading as separatists that won’t let peaceful Hausas living in Rivers State be? Some of my Hausa friends that made Rivers State their home while I was governor have been calling me since these miscreants chanting Biafra started terrorizing the state, they said they are not sure Wike would protect them from being harmed, but I told them that heads of security agencies in the state have assured me that every Hausa in Rivers State will be protected.”
Amaechi further commended operation python dance in the South East, he urged the military to be proactive in its effort to flush IPOB before they cause another civil war.
