According to him, the exercise was borne out of the fact that families of many sick people that need blood cannot afford it.

” I will described the event as very successful because many people came out and donated blood. This exercise was basically for the less privileged people and to save human lives” Aganbi said.

Reacting medical consultant and Head of Haematology department in RSUTH, Dr Hannah Omunakwe, said donation of blood is very important to the society because there are people who cannot afford blood when it is needed.

” It is a beautiful thing that people are donating blood today, World Health Organization (WHO) has said every blood transfusion should be given free.
I observed that women and children demand blood transfusion more when they are sick” she said.
