The Awada police in Onitsha, Anambra State, has commenced investigation into an alleged summons of a tenant by his 70 year old landlord at Okija shrine.
The landlord (names withheld), had reportedly summoned his tenant, Mr. Chukwudi Diribe, to the Ogwugwuakpu-Okija shrine in Ihiala local Government Area of the state, popularly known as Okija Shrine over N36,000 house rent.
Africa update gathered that trouble started when the landlord and the tenant had disagreement over the unpaid rent, which the tenant claimed to have paid the landlord.
The tenant had received a letter from the shrine notifying him of his invitation, few days after the dispute .
Mr. Diribe had immediately reported the matter to the police at Awada .
The letter read in part:
“Ogwugwuakpu-Ubahu Ezike Okija:
Dear Chukwudi Diribe,
“Be informed that you have been sued and summoned at the above named association by Ogwugwuakpu authority. You are required by the chief priest to come on the 3rd day of July 2016 at 9.00am for a peaceful settlement of this matter.
Thank you”.
The invitation letter was signed by one Chief Amusu for Ezike Ogbudaa with a phone number therein.
