March 22, 2018 was a memorable day in the body of Christ and in the Kalabari kingdom, as a special dedication and launching event was hosted by the Kalabari Bible Translation Project Committee and the Bible Society of Nigeiria for the first ever Kalabari Bible ( Fiafia Baibulu).
The event which took place at the Ecumenical Centre, in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, hallmarked a journey which started in 1968, by His Lordship, Late Rt. Rev. Yibo Alalibo Fubara JP.
The General Secretary of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Dr. Richard Dave Ajiboye remarked that this was a noteworthy achievement , stating that Nigeria has a staggering number of 500 languages recorded and that Kalabari language is the 25th language to be translated from English to Kalabari in the country.
He said there would be a launch for the Okirika Translated Bible on March 24, 2018.
In their separate speeches, Bishop (Dr) Ombo Isokariari, donated one million naira and also gave three scholarships to two individuals to undergo Masters program in Bible studies and one other to pursue a Doctorate degree in Bible studies at the Rivers State University.
On his part, Mr Jack rich Tein Jnr, Founder of Belema Oil, who was the Chief Launcher opened the event with the donation of N36 million for the production of 12,000 copies of the Kalabari Bible.
The dedication was graced by dignitaries and clergymen from various parts of Kalabari kingdom including The Amayanabo of Kalabari Kingdom, King (Prof) T.J.T Princewill, Amachree XI, CFR, His Eminence, Most Rev. (Dr) Nimi B. John Fyneface, JP, Chairman Kalabari Bible Translation Committee, Dr. Aaron Nuhu, President of the Bible Society of Nigeria and many others.
