‘What Wike wants to do is to incite Rivers people against APC’ – Dr. Sokonte Davies

Saturday November 11, 2017 will remain evergreen in the hearts of many political analysts especially, residents of Rivers State, as two prominent politicians crossed paths, which almost resulted in fatality.

In this exclusive interview with the Editor –In- Chief, Africa Update Newspaper, Gloria Harry, the Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Degema Local Government Area, who is the Executive Director, Marine Operations, Nigerian Ports Authority, (NPA), Hon. Dr. Sokonte Davies, gives an insight into the incident from the perspective of an active participant and eyewitness.

 

There was an attack on the former Governor and current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. His security aides were beaten up. But the PDP IS insinuating that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike was attacked by APC, We know that you were in the Minister’s vehicle. Please can you clear the air?

 

My take about the whole incident is, it was like a set up. I actually see what happened yesterday (November 11) as a set up to eliminate the Honorable Minister of Transportation, which didn’t succeed.

We were on a convoy and the Minster of Transportation’s vehicle is the third on the convoy. When we got to Nkpogu roundabout and the two security vehicles in front of us drove past and as the Minister was going, I was just right behind him, a motorbike just came suddenly and he stopped. So when he stopped, the next thing I saw, the motorbike man kept his motor bike on the floor and started hitting the car.

He punched the side window, maybe he didn’t know it was a bullet proof car. He punched it and was kicking and hitting. While he was doing that, some other people with guns came around and used their butts to be hitting the door. And they broke the right side mirror and the left side mirror of the car.

Now the Minister was there. Actually, as a law abiding citizen, when you see security people around him, he wanted to come down to ask them what was happening, but we stopped him because you can’t go there when the people are already attacking a car, punching the car and hitting the car and very very furiously.

We held him back and in that instance, the two pilot cars now saw that we were not coming, came and were asking them what was happening. That was how we drove off. As we drove off, little did we know that it was actually Wike’s convoy. Why we came to know, at that point, we didn’t know it was Wike’s convoy anyway. How do we know? As we drove off, Wike now came down and ordered the beating up of the security men in one of the escort cars coming from behind.

Terribly beat up one of the security officers, took his gun from him and all that stuff.

So for anybody to say that anybody attacked Wike’s convoy , whosoever that said that will receive the judgment of God. That lie is from the pit of hell.

I am so sad that I am sure after that yesterday’s incident, some people will go to church today and begin to paint a picture that is not correct. And it is not a matter of hearsay; I was right in the car.

 

 

Sometime ago while in the church Wike had said that we would rather die than have APC win in Rivers State. Can we say that he is actually putting words to action?

 

He is putting words to action. What Wike wants to do is to incite Rivers people against APC. And that is what he is trying to do. He has said oh you have sent police to kill him, you have sent Army to kill him and all that stuff. I tell you without any fear of contradiction that any security organization or one set of any person can eliminate any person at any time.

You can even use those people he thinks are around him. But he is just living in a fool’s paradise and it’s so sad that we can have such a person as our governor. It is very very sad. He has not shown any capacity whatsoever to govern. He has shown his capacity, he is a thuggery and he thinks his thuggery will continue. His paymasters who used to be his paymasters, who shot him with a barrel of gun and use of brute force to put him in power, are no longer there.

So what he wants to do is, he has street sense, in the sense that he wants to incite the people against APC that oh they are after the governor. What we are after is for him to be removed from office and for him to be alive to see how a state should and can be governed.

Presently, his misgovernance is affecting the economy of this country. HIs misgovernance! Does he think Nigerians are happy with him? Rivers people are sad, Nigerians are sad. So he just wants to wipe up sentiments and that will not work. He will die rather than see APC win, so these are the strategies to incite the people against APC. But his antics have failed.

 

He said he was on project tour at the time of the incident. Is this true?

What was he inspecting? It was rainy. Unless he was going to see how whatever he is doing, effect of rain on that. Otherwise, what was he inspecting? It was heavily raining.#
