Independence Day Celebration: RSG kick-start preparations for 2023 Independence Anniversary

The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee (CPC) to organise the celebration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day Anniversary in the State.

While inaugurating the committee in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, 6th September, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, said, the Committee was constituted to plan, organise and execute all approved activities marking the 63rd Independence Day Celebration of Nigeria.

According to the SSG, there will be no time lost in preparations as His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, has already approved the programs for the 2023 Independence Day Celebration.

He disclosed that the events will begin with an Inter-Denominational Church Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 24th September and Juma’at Prayers on Friday 29th September. The grand-finale will hold on Sunday, October, 1st at the Sharks Stadium with spectacular parade and performances.

“I want to commend you all, particularly the agencies you represent, for your commitment and excellent performance over the years during our annual celebrations in the State. I urge you to ensure a resounding performance as we have always done.

“Rivers people expect the best and a memorable performance regarding the 63rd Nigeria Independence Celebration here in the State.

“Every Government Agency and Para-Military Agency, State Ministries and Department here present, you know your roles, I expect that, you quickly make your areas of challenges known as we prepare and execute the plans”, he emphasized.

He further tasked Committee members to deploy their expertise in the areas of their operations, while noting that the committee will meet regularly prior to the Grand-finale.
