IGP Disu directs startegic posting of Senior Police Officers

In a decisive move to bolster operational efficiency and enhance leadership capacity, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has directed the immediate posting of several senior officers to strategic commands, formations, and departments nationwide.

The redeployments are part of a broader institutional framework aimed at strengthening the command structure and improving the delivery of security services across the Federatio, a statement signed by DCP Anthony Okon Placid, psc(+) mni Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, noted on 24th March, 2026.

Strategic Postings of Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs)

The Inspector-General’s directive includes the deployment of thirteen Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to key administrative and operational roles:

  • AIG Ado Emmanuel: Research and Planning, Force Headquarters (FHQ), Abuja.
  • AIG Joseph Eribo: Department of Armament, FHQ, Abuja.
  • AIG Miller G. Dantawaye: Department of Operations, FHQ, Abuja.
  • AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche: Department of Training and Development, FHQ, Abuja.
  • AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo: Police Accounts and Budget, FHQ, Abuja.
  • AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba: Department of Legal Services, FHQ, Abuja.
  • AIG Ahmed Musa: Community Policing, FHQ, Abuja.
  • AIG Haruna Olufemi: Special Protection Unit (SPU), FHQ, Abuja.

Regarding zonal and field commands, AIG Dahiru Mohammed has been posted to Zone 15, Maiduguri; AIG Dankombo F. Morris to Zone 4, Makurdi; AIG Bello Shehu to Zone 14, Katsina; and AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2, Lagos. Furthermore, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom has been deployed to the FCID Annex, Lagos.

Realignment of State Commands

The re-organisation also encompasses significant changes at the state command level, with new Commissioners of Police (CPs) appointed to steer several territories:

  • Lagos State: CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai
  • FCT Command: CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed
  • Delta State: CP Yemi John Oyeniyi
  • Ogun State: CP Olubode Ojajuni
  • Oyo State: CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola
  • Jigawa State: CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya
  • Adamawa State: CP Yakubu Useni Dankaro
  • Zamfara State: CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello
  • Sokoto State: CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan
  • Katsina State: CP Umar Ali Fagge
  • Taraba State: CP Morkwap S. Dongshal
  • Ekiti State: CP Michael Adegoroye Falade

Specialist and Departmental Assignments

A cohort of Commissioners has also been assigned to specialist units and administrative departments at Force Headquarters and various annexes. Notably, CP Akan Ezima has been named Director of the NPF-NCCC, Abuja; CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue moves to INTERPOL, Abuja; and CP Moses Ashu Otta takes charge of the SWAT unit in Abuja.

Welfare and training departments will now be overseen by CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin and CP Aina Adesola, respectively. Other notable postings include CP Sarah Ehindero (Administration, FCID, Abuja), CP Edwin Ogbegbghagha (Provost, FHQ, Abuja), and CP Preye R. Egbe, who has been posted to INEC, Abuja. In the creative and operational support sector, CP Rebecca Uchenna Okereke has been appointed Director of Music, FHQ, Abuja, while CP Kayode Uthman Magaji takes over the K9 unit in Dei-Dei.

IGP Tunji Disu has formally charged the newly posted officers to bring their wealth of professional experience to bear in their respective assignments. He emphasised the necessity of upholding the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and service in the discharge of their constitutional duties.

The postings take immediate effect as the Force continues its commitment to a proactive and efficient policing model for all Nigerians.
