Ibok-Ete Ibas Inspects Trans-Kalabari Project, Urges Timely Completion

Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has underscored the transformative potential of the Trans-Kalabari Road Project, emphasising its strategic role in alleviating the socio-economic hardships faced by residents of the state’s riverine communities. Ibas made these remarks during an inspection tour of the ongoing road project in Rumuolumeni and the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters in Rumuokwurushi, both located in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Ibas stressed the imperative of completing the project, citing its significant contribution to the socio-economic advancement of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole. “We are keenly aware of the challenging terrain here, particularly in terms of inter-community communication,” he stated. “This project, upon completion, will substantially enhance the socio-economic fabric of the state and the nation.”

He urged the contractors to adhere to project timelines, acknowledging the state government’s commitment to providing necessary resources. “We are counting on them to meet the completion deadlines,” he affirmed.

Turning his attention to the Civil Servants Quarters, designated for Permanent Secretaries, Ibas acknowledged the accommodation challenges faced by civil servants. He emphasised the importance of providing comfortable housing to enhance their workplace performance. “We have civil servants facing accommodation issues,” he noted. “We’ve inspected the project’s progress and received assurances of timely delivery, enabling them to settle and focus on their duties.”

Ibas reiterated his commitment to fostering a peaceful environment in Rivers State, noting that the people of Rivers State will be the primary beneficiaries of these development initiatives.
