Ibadan: Lion eats man at Zoo

A zoo attendant identified as Hamzat Oyekunle, has been killed  by a lion at Agodi Zoo gardens,  Ibadan.

According to reports, one of the lions at the zoo managed by AM & C, had accidentally attacked Oyekunle popularly known as Baba Olorunwa,  who later died as a result of injuries sustained.

Following this incident,  the state government in a statement at the weekend issued by the Executive Secretary, Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), Mr. Yinka Fatoki, announced the immediate closure of the zoo.

The statement expressed shock at the unfortunate incident,  particularly surprising and sad because  Mr. Oyekunle had fed the lion for over five years and was known to have had a very good relationship with all the animals in the zoo.

Meanwhile, the lions have been evacuated pending further investigations.
