The people of Rumuohia community at Emohua Local Government Area, in Rivers State are beaming with smiles after receiving generous gifts from the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Prof. Okechuku Onuchuku.
On December 22nd, the community witnessed the annual gift-giving event, where women and youths received bags of rice and cash gifts.
Speaking with our correspondent, Prof. Onuchuku explained, “This is a normal Christmas thing I do for my village women and youths. So today, I was there to deliver rice to the women of the community of Rumuohia Emouha. That is where l come from.
He continued, ” And I also gave them some cash to help in cooking and eating the rice. I also met with the youths and gave them cash too.”
The professor emphasised that the elders of the community were not forgotten, stating, “then the elders in the community l gave them cow and cash too.” He further explained that this act of kindness is a yearly tradition to support his community during the festive season.
The renowned economist also revealed that a week prior, his wife’s foundation had provided essential commodities to widows in the entire Ikwerre district of Assemblies of God Church. He said:”My wife also has a foundation where we have to identify widows and give them rice, cash and wrappers. ”
