Ayo Olayinka, who allegedly specialize in killing commercial motorcyclists in Abeokuta has landed in police net. Confirming the arrest to Journalists, the Ogun State Police Boss, Abdulmajid Ali, said the suspect, whom he described as unrepentant and heartless, killed his victim and sold their motorcycles (Okada) for as low as N40,000.
A police source revealed that there was a reported case of a missing commercial motorcyclist, whose corpse was recovered few days after his disappearance but the motorcycle was not found. With further investigation, the police later recovered it in the possession of a man, whose confession led them to Olayinka .
While confessing to newsmen in pidgin English, he said, “Yes, there is no need lying to you.
“I am a notorious armed robber. I specialise in snatching commercial motorcycles.
“I usually operate by disarming the rider with either a rod or strong stick after picking a motorcycle on charter to a lonely place.
He said he would lie that an item had fallen off him and the rider would stop, oblivious of the trap, then he would hit the victim on the chest or head with a rod and drive off with the motorcycle.
“I don’t even know how the police discovered that the motorcycle was stolen.
“The police picked the man and he mentioned my name. It was the last man that I killed that owned the motorcycle.
“My last victim was not strong. I just hit him once and he died instantly. I suspect that the man was sick.
“The way he died without even struggling showed the man was sick. I did it because things are difficult and man must survive.” he reiterated.
Olayinka is currently in the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the State Police Command, awaiting his arraignment in court.
