HRH Dokubo- Asari becomes Amanyanabo of Torusarama-piri as Governor Fubara presents certificates of recognition to him, three other Traditional Rulers

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has charged four newly recognized traditional rulers to prioritize service to their communities and avoid using their positions for personal gain.

Governor Fubara issued this charge during a ceremony at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, where he presented staffs of office and certificates of recognition to the four traditional rulers.

He emphasized that their appointments are not merely honorary titles, but a significant responsibility to assist the government in ensuring the safety and well-being of their subjects.

“This appointment is an additional responsibility to help the government protect the lives and property of citizens in your domains,” Governor Fubara stated. “I want to emphasize that this is not a platform for creating problems in your localities. This government retains the authority to withdraw recognition at any time. Therefore, I urge you to partner with the government and contribute to our collective success.”

Expressing his confidence in the newly recognized rulers, Governor Fubara stated, “I know that you are all men of integrity and will support the cause of good governance. This is a privileged position, and I am confident that you will utilize it for the betterment of your people.”

Earlier, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Charles Amadi, presented the four traditional rulers to the Governor. He commended Governor Fubara for his commitment to recognizing traditional rulers across the State, emphasizing that this initiative will significantly enhance security and safety in rural communities.

  • His Majesty Winston Odize, Alamina Oputibeya XII, Amanyanabo of Koniju in Okrika Local Government Area.
