Heavy rains wreak havoc in Rivers State

Residents of some communities in Port Harcourt City Local Government  and Obio/ Akpo Local Government Areas in Rivers State are counting their losses following heavy rains that lasted for over 24-Hours.

Houses and cars were submerged in flood waters, which destroyed properties worth several billions of Naira.

Corporate organizations and other government outfits were not spared by the ravaging floods, which invaded the premises of the  Rivers State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, located at Port Harcourt/Aba Expressway.

Areas affected the flood include Rumuokoro,  Diobu,  Rumuola, Rukpokwu, Rumukalagbo, Waga and Old Port Harcourt Township

The main evacuation point water which is the Intawogba Creek in Port Harcourt is said to have been overwhelmed  due to debris and lack maintenance.
