okujagu,okuru ama crises scores injured, one dead

In a commando like fashion, unknown gunmen invaded the peaceful community of Okuru Ama in Port Harcourt City Local Governemt Area,  on Sunday night leaving behind scores of people injured and one dead.

Residents who spoke to Africa Update correspondent on condition of anonymity said the attack may be connected to a lingering dispute between Okuru Ama and Okujagu communities over vast expanse of land.

Our sources revealed that the attack which took place at about 8.30pm lasted for almost an hour with the identities of the attackers who were without shirts still mystified.

It will be recalled that a similar incident occurred few months ago which led to the death of some police officers who went on a fact finding mission to the land in dispute. The killings led to the subsequent invasion of the community by law enforcement agents; women and old men were arrested during that invaaion.

Most residents have fled Okuru Ama community afraid of reprisal attacks, while a sixteen year old orange seller and others caught in the crossfire are currently receiving treatment.
