Group raises alarm, says Lulu-Briggs’ move is a ‘sheer attempt on the life of’ king Bob-Manuel

A group in Abonnema, Nyemoni Patriotic Vanguard (NPV), has berated High Chief O. B. Lulu-Briggs over his comments on the Abonnema kingship stool last weekend in Buguma.

The group which spoke to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Sunday, expressed disappointment that Lulu-Briggs allegedly denigrated the revered Da-Owukori Stool by saying that its elevation to a first class status by the Rivers State Government, was in mere recognition of the LGA and was not also an exclusive preserve of the Owukori Chieftaincy House.
President of Nyemoni Patriotic Vanguard, comrade Ibifubara Briggs, also stated that it was an aberration for Lulu-Briggs to claim that the Owukori Stool which had ruled Abonnema since Abonnema was founded in 1882 and succeeded by its descendants as kings of Abonnema on that same ancient stool till date, was not an established monarchical dynasty.
He noted with regret that Lulu-Briggs having failed in his attempt to foist himself on the community as Amanyanabo through a case he filed which is still pending in the court, now wants to pass through the back door and install himself as regent even when a duly installed and recognized Amanyanabo is still alive, warning that such desperate move was an attempt on the life of the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, HM King (Barr) Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel, KSC.
Extolling the leadership qualities of the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, Comrade Briggs stated that Abonnema had fared very well under King Bob-Manuel and called for more support for the first class Monarch.
“It is an aberration for anybody especially High Chief O. B. Lulu-Briggs to claim that the Da-Owukori Stool which had ruled Abonnema since its founding in 1882 till date and succeeded only by its descendants as kings of Abonnema on that same ancient stool, was not an established monarchical dynasty. The Owukori Stool was established in 1820, nearly 200 years ago.
” Again, Lulu-Briggs denigrated the Da-Owukori Stool that has existed right from the old shipping in the precolonial era, by postulating that its elevation to a first class status by the Rivers State Government was in mere consideration of the local government area. If that was true as he claims, how come some LGAs in Rivers State have more than one first class traditional rulers?
“How can a man who has been in court against the ruling Owukori House for 24 years now, turn around and tell us that he has become a regent of the same community he has being trying to rule
“This move is a sheer attempt on the life of our beloved king, His Majesty, King Sir Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel whose reign has brought peace and development to Abonnema. We the Nyemoni Patriotic Vanguard are therefore using this medium to call on all well meaning sons and daughters of Nyemoni (Abonnema) to see through the facade of these desperate men and their plot to plunge Abonnema into avoidable crisis and rally round our monarch who is a man of peace and means well for our community”, he stated.
