The Civil Society Organizations in Rivers State are appealing to President Buhari to approve the operation of the Neighborhood Watch and Safety Corps.
The group made the plea during a protest to the Police headquarters, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Chairman of the Civil Society Organizations in Rivers State, Tonye George said the operations of the Neighborhood Safety Corps will give the people in communities the opportunity to join in the fight against crime in the state.
In his response, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Steve Aso said the Police are ready to work with any group to provide security to residence of Rivers State.
The protester including applicants of the Neighborhood Safety Corps in Rivers State also matches to Government House to deliver their message.
