Kano, Nigeria — In a move aimed at enhancing governance and improving service delivery, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle and senior staff postings within the state civil service. The announcement, made by the governor’s spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen key ministries.
According to the directive, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Transport. In a related move, Barr. Mustapha Nuruddeen Muhammad, the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, will now serve as the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Environment. The Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs will also return to his substantive ministry.
A Focus on Efficiency and Accountability
Governor Yusuf has directed all officials affected by the reassignments to immediately hand over their offices to the most senior official in their respective ministries. The transition is to be completed by the close of business on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accountability, efficiency, and purposeful leadership. He explained that the redeployment is intended to “maximize capacity, align responsibilities, and ensure that government delivers effective results on its mandate to the people of Kano State.”
Governor Yusuf urged government officials to cooperate fully with the newly redeployed commissioner to ensure a smooth transition and effective discharge of duties.
