Governor Fubara Urges Corps Members to Embrace Skills Training for Economic Empowerment

Port Harcourt, Rivers State – The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a powerful directive to the newest contingent of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, charging them to utilise their mandatory service year as a dedicated period for capacity building and skill acquisition.

Speaking at the declaration of the closed 2025 Batch B, Stream II orientation exercise, Governor Fubara urged the deployed graduates to fully embrace the NYSC’s comprehensive skill acquisition programme to transform themselves into wealth creators and employers of labour.

The Governor’s address was delivered on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, by the recently sworn-in Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Hon Benibo Anabraba.

Focus on Entrepreneurial Development

In his charge, Governor Fubara explicitly encouraged the Corps members to take the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) post-camp training “very seriously.”

He further admonished the youth to see their mobilisation into the NYSC Scheme as a fundamental opportunity to provide humanitarian services, reminding them of their inherent “responsibility to serve selflessly and honourably” to their family and the nation.
