The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has announced a significant restructuring of his administration with the appointment of new principal officers to lead the state’s executive bureaucracy.
In a statement released on Thursday morning, the Governor confirmed the appointment of Dr Dagogo S.A. Wokoma as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Barrister Sunny Ewule as the Chief of Staff (CoS).
The appointments, which are aimed at revitalising the machinery of government, take effect immediately. The selection of Dr Wokoma and Barrister Ewule is seen by political observers as a move to strengthen the administration’s administrative efficiency and legal framework.
According to a directive signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Onwuka Nzeshi, the formal induction of the new officials held on Thursday, February 26, at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The roles of the Secretary to the State Government and the Chief of Staff are pivotal to the success of any state administration. While the SSG serves as the coordinating link for all government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), the Chief of Staff manages the Governor’s official engagements and policy implementation.
With these appointments, Governor Fubara continues to consolidate his team, underscoring his commitment to the “Rivers First” agenda. The public and civil service alike await the policy direction the new appointees will bring to their respective offices following today’s inauguration.
