The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed profound admiration for the life and legacy of the renowned gospel minister, Rev. Dr Uma Ukpai, describing his transition as the passing of a global icon of faith.
Speaking on Tuesday during a solemn yet celebratory Service of Songs held at the Royal House of Grace International Church, Governor Fubara lauded the late cleric’s lifelong commitment to global evangelism. The Governor, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Barrister Sonny Ewule, remarked that the ministry of the departed servant of God had left an indelible mark on millions of Christians worldwide.
“We are gathered here to celebrate a man who sacrificed immensely for the faith and was instrumental in bringing the gospel to global prominence,” the Governor stated. He further conveyed the State Government’s solidarity with the bereaved family and the wider Christian community during this period of mourning.
In a stirring homily, Pastor Cletus Desmond of Redemption Ministries exhorted the congregation to emulate the late Dr Ukpai’s exemplary life of service, noting that his dedication to the Great Commission remained unparalleled.
Offering a personal perspective on behalf of the family, the daughter of the deceased, Ms Nnena Uma Ukpai, shared touching insights into her father’s final days. She noted that he maintained a disciplined and devoted life, remarkably continuing his evangelical mission even while contending with illness.
The host and founder of the Royal House of Grace International Church, Apostle Zilly Aggrey, described the late preacher as a “great oracle of God.” He observed that the overwhelming global participation in the service which was held simultaneously in several locations across the world bore testament to the immense grace and far-reaching impact of Dr Ukpai’s ministry.
The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the cleric’s spiritual influence, which transcended national borders and united believers in a shared legacy of faith.
